Island Park

While Miranda and Ian were in transit to their new home in Arizona, we decided to have a little family get together in Island Park, Idaho. We are so lucky to have a great place to meet and be together (thanks again Stacey and Jon) Though it is a little bit of a drive for us to ge there it always seems worth it. While we were there Miranda had planned and assigned a few fun family activities. Check out the next post (glow sticks gone wild) Thanks mom and dad the kids seemed to really have fun with this one. Along with the adults who got the pleasure of watching. We made a few bead andimals to donate to orphanages around the world (thanks everyone who helped) rode four wheelers, played in the rain and swatted thousands of misquitoes. ) if it wasn't thousands of mosquitoes it really seemed like it.) Thanks Ian for the fun "Survivor Game" which was a big hit!! I guess it never really matters what or where we go with our family we always have a good time. I have been blessed with a great great family. We all bring so many different talents together and together we make a great team. A team I would always choose to be on!! Thanks again everyone!!!

Matayia is the purple and red one,

This video helps me to believe that maybe they do like each other. There are many times a day when I wonder if they do like each other. I love to see them laughing together. Kaitlyn just adores Matayia and wants to fit into her "big kid world" she tries so hard to just keep up. Matayia has alot of patience (most of the time) with Kaitlyn and is finally starting to understand that her sister will always be there while friends will come and go.

I think that Grandpa must of come up with this great idea. I am sure he was just so proud to see the girls prance around with such a great trophy on their head. I am not quite sure how I feel about this one!! Grandma assured us that this was one of the favorite activities of Grandma Girls camp. Matayia assured me of this also. But I am just not sure how I feel about it on her head!!

Grandma Girls Camp

If I am being honest I was a little worried about this one. I wondered could grandma really handle 3 giggly crazy girls for 3 days. But I guess didn't really have anything to worry about. Matayia had a great time participating in the first Grandma Girls camp. Marsha had been talking about doing this for a couple of years and finally the girls were old enough for it to begin. Curtis and Marsha picked Matayia up on Thursday morning, (she was so excited she could barely wait for them to get there). They already had Janie with them and Jacie was going to meet them in Salt Lake. They headed to Heritage park .... Where they go rained out. So off they went to the Children's Museum downtown Salt Lake and it looks like they had a great time. That evening they headed back to Gunnison. The next couple of days they enjoyed a little fishing, playing at the park, hiking, and making fun crafts with Grandma and Grandpa, along with lots of other fun activities. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for starting such a fun family tradition!!!

Mow the what???

So I was trying to talk Greg into going up AF canyon for family home evening tonight. But he said he needed to mow the back lawn when he got home from work. I quickly shot back "well I could mow the lawn today while you are at work" Matayia quickly looked at me and said "Mom, could you really mow the lawn??" I shot her a look of disgust and marched outside to mow the lawn. I mowed the lawn today not only so we could go up the canyon for FHE but because I needed to prove to Matayia that I could. (though Greg should not expect this from me every week)

Minature golf

We decided to go minature golfing since our girls had never been. We didn't really pick the best night to go because we had a little rain while we were there. Matayia had a great time and she really started to get a hang of it toward the end. There is a reason why 3 and under are free at the course, because about halfway through the course Kaitlyn had had enough. We ended up just playing for her most of the time. I did get a hole in one while hitting her ball and had to beg Greg to let me take that score for my own. Though he did give in I still wasn't even close to beating him. All and all it was a fun family activity one that the girls are already asking to to again!!!

Chucky Chucky Bank Bank.....

You may be asking what in the world is chucky chucky bank bank?? And the answer is, it is a 3 year olds way of saying Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Kaitlyn has been so excited go to chitty chitty, though she wasn't quite sure what it really was. We corrected her all week, but she never quite got the name right. We told her only big girls got to go Capital Theatre and she was so excited to finally be big. The show was fun, Kaitlyn loved the flying car and I was excited to have a fun girls night out.

All in a days work...

We have the best strawberry patch. We started our strawberry patch about 4 years ago with 6 to 10 starts. Those strawberries have grown and grown and grown. We have so many stawberries we don't know what to do with all of them. The best part of the strawberrie patch is my girls think it is so fun to pick them. They go out every mornning and pick us a bowl full. I have had to start freezing them for jam because we can't eat them fast enough. The strawberries have come through great this year, the carrots are looking good and my fingers are still crossed for the peas.

By the looks of my bow drawer you would think that I have at least a dozen little girls in our house. Nope we just have the best aunt who provides us with endless cute bows. Thanks Melissa we love you!!

1st Grade is Over...

For the last couple of weeks I have been trying to decide how to spend the summer. And all of the sudden it is here, first grade is over. Second grade sounds so big to me, but Matayia insists on going. She says she is "done with first grade!" We have just loved her teacher this year. Miss Jones has been so good for Matayia. I have loved getting to help with the reading every Wednesday. Matayia always seemed so excited when I opened the door to her classroom. I just loved knowing that she wants me there. I asked Matayia what her favorite thing about Miss Jones was and she said... "she is the best teacher ever" Every time I was in the classroom Miss Jones seemed to be so happy and nice to all the kids. At our first Parent Teacher Conf. I told Miss Jones she was going to have to push Matayia a little in reading, that Matayia just loved to sit in her comfort zone. She definitely pushed Matayia and I am so grateful, Matayia has become a great great reader. Thanks for a great year Miss Jones, we will miss you.
