What I learned...

As I said, we got a new car. I am still getting used to our new car and it's bells and whistles. Today we (Kaitlyn and I ) were headed out to return our library books. I opened the car door, threw my purse in and the bag of books and put the keys in the ignition. Kaitlyn quickly said "mom you said we could go and look at the flowers before we left" she was right. So I shut my door and we headed to the front yard to look at our spring flowers. We walked around for a few minutes and enjoyed our new spring flowers (not really in bloom yet) and then headed back to the car only to find it locked. My only set of keys, in the ignition. I quickly checked all the doors which were all locked too. I stood there confused for a minute (maybe said a few bad words) and wondered, How did this happen? How do your keys get locked in your car in your garage? Isn't there safety features that should prevent this? Kaitlyn was starting to get upset and said. "Don't call dad, he is gonna be so mad at you!" I walked over to my neighbors house, I don't know why, maybe wondering what I should do. She was baffled too, but said call the American Fork Police I think they will come and open your car for free for you. I know the police and I doubted this was true. So I went home sat on the couch for awhile, ate a bowl of nachos, went back out to check the car and yep, it was still locked. So I called the American Fork Police department. The dispatcher was real nice and said she would send someone out to help me. She couldn't tell me how long it would be until they would be here. But hey I had all day to wait, beats calling a locksmith and opening up the wallet. And what do ya know about 25 minutes later a nice police lady rolled up. I signed the waiver (they were not responsible if the broke my car) and about 15 minutes later my car was open. I told her thanks and she left. What I learned was, maybe I don't know the police, hey maybe American Fork doesn't have alot for our police officers to do. But, I was just happy to get my car unlocked for free!!

The way Greg works...

We recently bought a new car. We bought it from our favorite place KSL classified ads. Those who know us well know Greg and I are a little addicted d to KSL weather it be us looking for something or (Greg) wanting to sell something. We have had really good luck with KSL so far. SO when we brought our new ride home there was one thing that really bothered Greg about our new purchase. Take a look at this picture.



So Greg is not a Ute fan. Some may even call him a Ute hater. So pulling into our driveway with these plates was hard for Greg. I wanted him to keep the plates on until we could get it down to register it. He wanted the plates off. I think he may have even lost a little sleep over the Ute plates in his very own garage. Needless to say the car was registered in record time. It was moved to the top, of his priority list. I learned a little something about Greg through this whole process. I am going to order a stack of Ute stickers. When I need something done I am going to place a large Ute sticker on it, I think this may help light his fire to get things done for me.

Kaitlyn can do it

We have enjoyed really good weather here last week, and all the kids have been spending alot of time playing outside. Each time we got out Kaitlyns bike for her to ride she would ask us to take off her training wheels as to which we would reply "maybe later" We have taken off the training wheels before, and when Kaitlyn realized it wasn't as easy as the big kids make it look we ended up putting the training wheels back on. So we were a little reluctant to take them off again. But after 4 days of asking, I finally caved. I tried to get them off, and couldn't so when Greg came home for lunch he reluctantly took them off while giving the "I am not putting these back on" speech once again. So as Greg pulled out of the driveway to head back to work I helped Kaitlyn down the driveway holding on to her seat. When we hit the road she practically took off by herself. I ran behind her just laughing. Greg saw all this, stopped, and got out to watch. Needless to say she surprised us both. By the time the kids got home from school she was cruising up and down the street and even headed around the block by herself. Though she has a hard time starting and needs a little help with this, I am actually really impressed with her bike riding skills.

Family Scripture Study

I am so happy to report for the first time in our married lives our family scripture study is really going well. We are in a good routine and rarely miss a night. We are even on track to finish the Book of Mormon by Matayia's baptism. But we do have a member of the family that doesn't seem to benefit much from our scripture study.



Our night seems to end like this quite often lately. We now brush teeth and go potty before we start reading. Kaitlyn is usually our "starter" in reading the first couple of verses and then calming closes her book curls up and goes to sleep. But I can't complain too much, there does seem to be a little more reverence after she falls asleep.

Really?

Every week I volunteer in Matayia's classroom. Today while I was there I was helping her with some math problems. (math is not her strong subject) She became frustrated with the problem and being a good mom I pushed her to be able to figure it out. She looked at me and said very seriously "mom isn't it time for you to go home now?" I looked at her laughed a little and said "I still have 20 more minutes, to work on this problem" She looked at me and the tears started to well up. I then knew, it was time to back off, or forever be banned from coming to help at school!!

Ski Trip

No Excuses, But...

My blogging has been seriously lacking lately, I can think of a million excuses as to why, but unfortunately none of them are really that good. Recently we got a virus on our computer that left us crashed for a few days. I was never really concerned about the computer I was just concerned about all the pictures that I could possibly loose because of it. Though one thing that comforted me was knowing I still had all the pictures that I had posted on my blog. (Just one more reason to blog, another picture backup) Now the computer is fixed and I have more motivation to stay on top of my blog.

But I will have to admit the real reason for my slacking is, as embarrassing as this is to admit. I am hooked on too many TV shows!! From the biggest loser to the bachelor and on to Survivor, don't forget the Amazing Race and come on who misses American Idol? But the real overload came with the Olympics! We just couldn't turn them off. The DVR would record and after we put the kids to bed we would go downstairs and try to catch up. One night as were trying to watch all we had in recorded Greg said in disgust "How in the world do they expect us to watch all of this?" I simply said "I think we are the only ones who are trying to watch 6 hours of TV every night"

Needless to say the Olympics are over I enjoyed them just as much as I always do. And now I have a little extra time, not being so glued to my TV. (embarrassing I know)
