Soccer is over, for now...

Matayia has been playing soccer again this spring. It has been a cold spring and the weather hasn't always been that great. We have played in rain, hail and not much sun but I have enjoyed this season the most so far. Though I think we only won 1 game (and tied a few) Matayia has really improved this season. She decided that she is a great defender. Though I often say Matayia has no competitive bone in her body. She has found her own competitive spot on the field. I think as a parent when I went to the game I found myself saying... "score a goal" and I taught Matayia that her success in soccer was measured by the # of goals she scored. Which is not the case. My perspective has changed as I have seen her excell in defense. I have learned success can be measured in many different ways. I am proud of the growth and confidence Matayia has shown on the soccer field that helped me learn this valuable lesson. I can't wait for the fall soccer season to start. Good season Matayia I am proud of you!!

Matayia is excited

Ever since we told Matayia we were going to have a baby she has talked about when she could feel the baby kick. She would ask me quite often "is the baby moving" "mom can I feel the baby yet?" I knew I could feel the baby move but I also knew it took alot of patience for others to feel the baby move. So this morning while laying on bed the baby was moving around alot. I was excited when Matayia came in to get in my bed with me. I told her to put her hand on my belly. We laid there for a minute or two and then she felt it. I knew she felt it because I could see it in her eyes. She was so excited, but I was more excited. She had been waiting for so long and it was really nice to see the excitement in her. She is gonna be such a good big sister. I am excited for her and the new adventure that awaits her.

Life is awesome....

Today while I was sitting in my car in my lounge clothes, without any shoes on watching Matayia return my movies to the redbox I decided that this is a awesome time of life. Matayia is getting older which means I don't have to get fully dressed to return my movies anymore. The best part about this is she thinks that it is awesome that she "gets" to return the movies.
