The summer would not of been complete without our annual camping trip to Redfish Lake. I think I look forward to this trip every year more than my kids do, if that is possible. Though the lack of being able to get camping spots was a little stressful, it seemed to work out just fine. But of coarse it always does. This was Avery's first year at redfish. It was actually her first time camping. And it seemed to go well, she slept well, was more than entertained by all the kids and had a blast playing in the sand at the beach.
She actually quite enjoyed the water and loved to sit right on the edge of the lake and splash. We were lucky enough to still not have her crawling so we could sit her down and she would just be content with staying there.
The beach was a hit as usual. I think we soaked up the mountain sun just about everyday. I often wonder if we are living in the wrong state, and maybe we should live closer to the ocean, as much as my kids enjoy the sand.
Kaitlyn and Matayia were so happy to have some little beach buddies. It is so nice to see your kids develop such great lasting relationships with their cousins. I look back at my younger Redfish days and have so many fun memories with my cousins.
While the kids were enjoying the sun at the beach (yes, I am included with the kids) Greg decided to take a hike. And he was so excited to have his favorite hiking buddies with him. I know Greg really misses the Hemingway family on the years they don't make it to Redfish and was excited to have them all here this year.
Though I would love to be able to say where this hike was. I cannot. Because, remember I was enjoying the beach. Just like I do every year. Yes, by choice
But I can see from the pics that Greg took that he enjoyed a nice glacier ski run (in July)and a relaxing lunch lounged on a rock soaking in a little mountain sun himself.
And while he was enjoying his hike, we headed to the river, to enjoy the warm water there.
I think sitting in the hot pools on the river is one of my favorite things to do at Redfish. I don't know if it is enjoying the feeling of being clean, or how soft my skin feels the next day. Or maybe it's that I have so many great memories of going there throughout the years. But I always enjoy the hot pools, even when we have to fight for a spot. This year was especially great because Elsha and her 2 cute kids joined us there. I have so many fun memories with Elsha at redfish and it was so nice to get to spend the week with her. Thanks for spending the week with us Elsh, I know it's not always easy camping with kids!
We've actually learned, the last couple of years that we quite enjoy going to the lodge at night and listening to the live music. And they actually had some good music this year. It's nice to sit on the grass enjoy some ice cream and watch our little kids dance to the music.
The kids seemed to have as much fun in the water this year as they did on the sand. Though in years past the water has seemed to be bone chilling, I will admit it didn't seem too bad this year. (not that i swam in it) The river was too high this year to float so the kids had to get all their floating don on the lake and they did just that.

These pictures really make me sad that we weren't able to be there more than one day. Great pictures of great times.
I'm sad that I missed it too. Here's looking forward to next summer already!!
