Our Maiden Voyage

Greg has been wanting to buy a boat for awhile, but lately (the last couple of weeks) the urge has become stronger and stronger. Greg practically lived on KSL looking for a great boat that would work for our family. Well after many hours on the computer and alot of looking and researching he (we) finally found it.

Greg ended up buying this boat in Logan. I was up in Logan for the week with my family, so Greg drove up Thursday night picked the boat up and pulled it home early Friday morning. I came home from Logan late, late Friday night and we took the boat out for the first time Saturday afternoon. We are obviously new-bee's at this boat thing so we invited our neighbors (who's family owns a boat) to come with us to teach us how to operate our new toy. Greg will say he didn't need much help once it got in the water, but he also knew he couldn't depend on me for the loading and unloading of the boat. I need a little practice on backing a trailer or driving a boat onto a trailer, this is hopefully something I will master soon or Greg and I will have alot of Marital fights on the boat ramp. (something I know will happen and something I am not looking forward to)

We headed out to Utah Lake, we got there before our neighbors and attempted to unload the boat ourselves. Greg backed the boat in, got in the boat and backed the boat off, looked at me and then said, "go park the truck" If you could of only seen this crazy busy, full parking lot. But I got in the truck and just went for it. I must be living right because way down at the end of the parking lot, a straight shot from where I was, a truck was pulling out. I was able to just pull the truck straight in, no corners so wrecks and no stress for me.

We headed down to the dock, met our neighbors and jumped in the boat for our "maiden voyage" On the way to Logan to pick up the boat Greg also stopped and bought a three man tube (off of KSL also) The kids were ready to experience the tube. Matayia and Levi and I jumped on the tube and went for a fun bumpy ride. We then stopped and went for a little dip in the lake. Matayia really surprised me when she jumped in and even loved it. Every time we stopped Matayia wanted to just jump in and swim around. She decided that she liked to swim in a lake more than the local pool. I think we have maybe given Matayia a small misconception on how warm lakes are. Utah Lake is really warm, she may change her mind on the whole lake thing when we boat in a cold lake. (I am sure that will be a different blog story all in it's self)

Later that night when we got home, Greg and I were relaxing in the backyard, as we talked we both commented to each other, "why haven't we bought a boat sooner!" It was a great trip and we hope to have many many more!!
