Labor Day bust!?!?!

To say the least, Labor day was a bust this year. Every year we get together with Greg's family for Labor day weekend. As the weekend got closer more and more people seemed to bailout on the idea of a fun family weekend. So we decided to change the original plans last minute and head to Crystal Hot Springs right outside of Brigham City. As we pulled into Crystal Hot springs, we thought, "Hey, the kids are going to have a great time this weekend" It looked a little run down, but add a few pools and our kids jump for joy!! We quickly settled into our camping spot and headed to pizza plus (one of our favorite places to eat) for dinner. When we got back to Crystal Hot Springs, the rest of the family had arrived. We finished setting up camp, talked a little played a little and then settled in for bed. And then the fun started!! Though this is not a actually picture of our neighbors across the street, I think you get the picture.

They weren't holding instruments, there instrument of choice was their car radio at 1:30am. They were holding a few empty bottles and making alot of noise. It seemed right after Greg yelled to quiet them down, the ground began to shake, Literally.

Though I had noticed the train tracks near our campsite earlier that night, I hadn't thought much about it until that moment. This was the closest I had ever been to a moving train. It was loud. louder than I ever thought a train would be, maybe because it was the middle of the night. The train didn't just come through once that night it came through at least 3 times maybe 4. It didn't just come through, it blew its horn the whole time. When matayia and Kaitlyn crawled in my bed that morning they were ready to swim, I rolled over and said "did you hear the train last night?" they looked at me and replied "what train"

Greg and the girls enjoyed the pools, well, Kaitlyn just sat on the edge of the pools, but Matayia enjoyed swimming. Kaitlyn thought one was too hot and the other was too cold, but at least she was content sitting on the edge and watching everyone else have a great time. Then the day ended and the sun went down and out came the train and all the parties. Greg tried to sleep with his ear plugs in. The next morning we called it quits. We headed to Derek's house to regain some sanity. We slept in our trailer next to Derek's house or should I say tried to sleep in our trailer. I don't know if the wind always blows that hard in Brigham City, but at times I thought we were going to be blown away. This time the girls woke up, I guess trains don't wake up my kids just wind storms. Again Greg tried to sleep with his ear plugs in. I slept with Matayia and Kaitlyn on their bed so they wouldn't be scared of the wind. Three people in one bed never turns out well. Chalk it up for three terrible night in a row. The Greg Anderson family was not happy in the morning. To top it all of we were drenched by the neighbors sprinklers first thing in the morning (of coarse we had every possible window open in our trailer) We were now more than ready to go home.

We all stopped at the Hill air force museum on the way home. We drive by thsi all the time and comment on the airplanes so I was excited to stop. There were definitely some cool ariplanes there. The kids had a great time (what short memories they have) Usually Greg and I go overboard on the pictures, not this time, we were ready to go home.

Though this Labor Day tradition doesn't have a very good track record that last couple of years, I am sure we will get together next year. One thing I do know is, it won't be near the railroad tracks!!

I knew there would come a day when our Labor Day experience would make us chuckle a little. Reading your description was hilarious! I especially liked the pictures of our Spanish friends. Thanks for the memories!!!!

I wish I could get Greg to come yell at some of our late-night neighbors! Now you know why I do all my camping in Idaho! You can get some peace and quiet there and by 1:00 AM the drinkers are all passed out.
